Lawyer suggests tips on insurance and well being

This way of thinking may reduce a few co-pays to save money but a recent study found that deferring regular care is actually increasing the amount of money and time patients are spending for inpatient care," says Frank N. AACR Annual Meeting 2010: Æterna Zentaris to present data on Erk/PI3K inhibitor compounds

Transparent Health Network adds MPG to provider network

Transparent Health Network today announced the addition of Manhattan's Physician Group (MPG), the largest multi-specialty group in New York City, to its provider network. A new health care access plan that advocates for the working uninsured by negotiating dramatically reduced fees that are 35 to 60% lower than the "retail" fees typically charged to patients without insurance, Transparent Health Network is not insurance. In exchange for the reduced fees, members pay providers directly when they receive care.

Canadian Cancer Society's "Fight" video wins DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards

The Canadian Cancer Society's "Fight" video has won first prize in the "large organization" category of the 4th annual DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards. Winners were announced on Saturday, April 10 at the 2010 Nonprofit Technology Conference in Atlanta. More than 750 videos were submitted to the international contest.

FDA updates website with information about triclosan

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today updated its website www.fda.gov with information about triclosan, a common ingredient added to many consumer products to reduce or prevent bacterial contamination. It may be found in antibacterial soaps and body washes, toothpastes and some cosmetics—products regulated by the FDA.

Ease up on the drink! New NZ ad campaign targets drinking buddies

“Hitting the bottle is not the cure to the ills of the world” was the last message from the advertisements of New Zealand’s Alcohol Advisory Council (ALAC). That campaign focused on graphic examples of excessive drinking leading to harm, with three realistic characters who made poor and dangerous choices.

Low-skilled workers to perform initial blood donor screening: ONA, CFNU question decision

The Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) has joined the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) in questioning the decision of federal health minister Leona Aglukkaq to allow Canadian Blood Services to conduct a pilot project to replaces nurses with low-skilled workers for initial blood donor screening.
