Avita Medical donates ReCell devices, sends experienced personnel to help treat burn victims in Taiwan

Avita Medical Ltd., a regenerative medicine company specializing in the treatment of wounds and skin defects, has donated a number of free ReCell devices and sent personnel experienced in burn treatment to provide any support requested by authorities in Taiwan, where hundreds of people have been left seriously burned in a mass casualty event at a waterpark.

Scientists find way to accelerate wound healing in diabetic mice

One of the body's own tools for preventing wound infections may actually interfere with wound healing, according to new research from Boston Children's Hospital. In a study published online in Nature Medicine, scientists from the hospital's Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine found they could speed up wound healing in diabetic mice by keeping immune cells called neutrophils from producing bacteria-trapping neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs).

Scientists find key to light-induced color change in fish skin

The neon tetra fish from the Amazonas River, along with some reptiles, amphibians, and other fish, takes advantage of structural colors in its skin to change its appearance in response to a triggering signal. In the light-adapted state, its lateral stripe shimmers blue-green, in the dark it is indigo. Scientists from Israel have now found an unambiguous answer to how this intriguing mechanism works.
