Data from Navidea’s Lymphoseek Phase 3 studies on solid tumors to be presented at ESSO

People with high levels of antibodies to bacteria linked to periodontal disease have an increased risk for pancreatic cancer, while the risk is reduced in those with increased antibodies to oral commensal bacteria, say researchers.

Lund University professor to coordinate oral insulin study for type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is the autoimmune form of diabetes, in which the patients' insulin-producing beta cells are destroyed by their own immune system. "We know that if a person has two autoantibodies and one of them is against insulin, there is a 50 per cent risk that they will develop type 1 diabetes within five years. It doesn't matter how old you are", says Ake Lernmark, Professor of Experimental Diabetes Research at Lund University in Sweden.

Oral contraceptive use can lead to increased pain during intercourse among young women

According to the Guttmacher Institute, over ten million women in the US use oral contraceptives. Although birth control pills are an effective way to prevent pregnancy, keep acne at bay, and treat menstrual pain or irregularity, there may be some health concerns that are undisclosed to patients. A recent study suggests that oral contraceptive use can lead to increased pain during intercourse, with decreased libido and spontaneous arousability as well as diminished frequency of sexual intercourse and orgasm in young women.
