Although there are differing estimates of how many, "everyone agrees that way too many vets are waiting way too long to get benefits.

Dr. Gallagher further noted the VA's pain care challenge is magnified by a 90 percent injury survivor rate from these conflicts compared with only 40 percent in the Vietnam War. VA clinicians are now challenged to manage pain in blast survivors with one or several other consequences of blast, such as head injuries causing mild to severe TBI, physical disfigurement and social stigma, emotional trauma, and often post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Researchers analyze role of gender in treatment and outcome of patients with MMD

Moyamoya disease is an uncommon, progressive cerebrovascular disease in which the main arteries feeding the brain (the intracranial internal carotid arteries/ICA and Circle of Willis) are narrowed or occluded on both sides, reducing blood flow to the brain. This causes transient episodes of reversible stroke with loss of neurologic function in the form of weakness of a limb, sensory disturbances, epileptic seizures or headaches.

Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery effective for patients with large acoustic neuromas: Study

A new Mayo Clinic study has found that Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery is a successful treatment for the majority of patients who have large acoustic neuromas (also known as vestibular schwannoma or neurolemmoma). Gamma Knife surgery already is an accepted treatment for small to medium-sized acoustic neuromas.
