Sudden deaths attributed to cocaine use; drug remains a growing health problem in Europe

Forensic pathologists have shown that over three per cent of all sudden deaths in south-west Spain are related to the use of cocaine. They believe their findings can be extrapolated to much of the rest of Europe, indicating that cocaine use is a growing public health problem in Europe and that there is no such thing as "safe" recreational use of small amounts of the drug.

Officials from the National Institutes of Health and the city of Washington, D.C. today announced the new D.C. Partnership for HIV/AIDS Progress, a collaborative research initiative between NIH and the D.C. NOTA questions FDA's attempted regulation of on-site tests

The National On-site Testing Associates, Inc. (NOTA) has been revived in response to an attempt by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate on-site, or point of collection, oral fluids drug and alcohol tests used by many small employers for non-medical purposes. NOTA is an association of manufacturers, users, and distributors of on-site drugs of abuse tests. CCAC doubles its efforts to convince Canadians to prevent colorectal cancer

Following the results of the Angus Reid Strategies and the Applied Health Research Centre at Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital survey conducted on behalf of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer finding that the majority of Canadians have a good understanding of the benefits of colorectal cancer screening, but are not taking action to get screened, the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada ("CCAC") is doubling its efforts in 2010 to convince Canadians that they must be more proactive concerning their health and the onset of colorectal cancer.
