New York College of Health Professions, a private institutionally accredited college based in Syosset, N.Y., with a facility in Luo Yang, China, today announced the opening of its second Manhattan location at the University Settlement on Houston Street and Bowery in Chinatown.

Amphibian skin secretions can reveal amazing medicinal properties

Frogs place in culture ranges from the wise, to the prince in disguise. But it's the idea that a frog can produce life-saving medicine that's currently the subject of an international research project involving Professor Chris Shaw and colleagues at Queen's University Belfast, in Northern Ireland. They have discovered proteins in frog skins that could be used to treat cancer, diabetes, strokes and transplant patients by regulating the growth of blood vessels.

The app is now available for iPhones and Androids, but the mobile-friendly site it's based on is accessible via any smartphone's web browser.

In 1991, Carl Lewis was both the fastest man on earth and a profound long jumper, perhaps the greatest track-and-field star of all time in the prime of his career. On June 14th of that year, however, Carl Lewis was human. Leroy Burrell blazed through the 100-meters, besting him by a razor-thin margin of three-hundredths of a second. In the time it takes the shutter to capture a single frame of video, Lewis's three-year-old world record was gone.
