NIH awards QuantaLife $6 million to build platform for detecting MRSA infections

QuantaLife, a new life science tool company developing the third generation of PCR, has received an NIH grant totaling ~$6 million over 5 years for the development of rapid, cost-effective technology for detecting methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. The grant, from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), part of the National Institutes of Health, will fund the project.

INRA Genomic Platform core facility now provides services on Fluidigm's BioMark System for Genetic Analysis

Fluidigm Corporation today announced that the Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées Genomic Platform - Genotoul INRA core facility is now providing a wide range of services on a BioMark™ System for Genetic Analysis to a wide range of French researchers. These services include SNP genotyping, gene expression analysis and digital PCR quantification of DNA libraries for next-generation sequencing. The INRA has been validating the performance of the system on several projects over the past year.

Fluidigm's IFC platform products help perform digital-PCR measurements on single gene

Utilizing Fluidigm Corporation's Dynamic Array™ and Digital Array™ integrated fluidic circuits (IFCs), Stanford University researchers to have discovered a much larger spectrum of differences between individual cells than has previously been demonstrated. Among these differences are the communication capabilities that emerge from the interactions of genetic circuitry that mediates cell-to-cell communication.

Ghent University signs agreement to use Roche's LightCycler 1536 Instrument for cancer research

Roche and Ghent University (Belgium) have signed an agreement for the use of Roche's LightCycler® 1536 Instrument in various cancer research projects in Ghent. Studies include multigene expression signature profiling on cancer research samples and, digital PCR for sensitive detection of mutant cancer cells in a background of normal cells.

Fluidigm manufactures more than 250 million microscopic NanoFlex valves at its Singapore biochip factory

Fluidigm today announced that its Singapore biochip factory has manufactured and shipped more than 250 million microscopic NanoFlex™ valves. The 250 million valves built into Fluidigm’s integrated fluidic circuits (IFCs) would be equivalent to the number of valves required for all the conventional plumbing – both residential and commercial – in a metropolitan region the size of the San Francisco Bay Area.
