The California Endowment to fund a statewide campaign that promotes the participation of all residents in the 2010 U.S. Census

To ensure that every Californian is counted in the 2010 U.S. Census, the state’s largest, private health foundation today announced that it will make $4 million in grants towards a statewide campaign that will promote the importance of participating in the Census, particularly in the large number of "hard to count" communities throughout the state.

ACCME awards accreditation to COHRI for continuing medical education

Concentra Occupational Health Research Institute (COHRI), the independent medical education and research arm of Concentra, was recently awarded accreditation status as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The accreditation term is effective through July 31, 2012.

Uncontrolled NHBDs could help counter the shortage of kidney grafts in France

A pilot study of a system for harvesting kidneys from non-heart-beating donors where attempts of resuscitation after a witnessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have failed (uncontrolled NHBDs) resulted in 21 successful kidney transplants - a 10% increase in the transplantation rate - over 17 months.

Federal grand jury in Denver charges a case for allegedly threatening an employee of a Colorado abortion clinic

Loretta King, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, announced today that a federal grand jury in Denver has charged Donald Hertz with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce and with violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for allegedly threatening an employee of a Colorado abortion clinic.
