Dr. Akshima Sahi is a registered dentist and seasoned medical writer from Dharamshala, India. She graduated from Himachal State Government College with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2008.

Following her bachelor’s degree, Akshima worked as a dentist in Shimla, where she organized several dental outreach camps in rural and remote areas of Himachal. The aim of these events was to raise awareness of the importance of dental care.

In 2011, she moved to New Delhi to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) in Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance at the Institute of Clinical Research, Delhi. After completing her diploma, she began working as the Head of a Clinic for several highly reputable health and wellness centers across New Delhi.

In 2014, Akshima ventured into the field of medical writing, when she worked as a research coordinator and medical writer for vaccination research at the WHO Centre For Health Development. Here, she spearheaded the trend analysis of several projects with the aim of improving processes and efficiency. She was also involved in writing complex medical research documents, and the critical analysis operation of each department, the results of which were presented every fortnight.

The work Akshima carried out at the World Health Organization was highly fulfilling, as she was able to work with stakeholders throughout the value chain, from patient relatives to regulatory authorities.

Soon after she started, Akshima was appointed as a lead consenter, where she trained her team in medical ethics and obtaining unbiased consent from trial participants. This experience gave her invaluable insights into how vaccine trials are conducted and how to manage critical situations during vaccination studies.

After working for 2 years, Akshima decided to hone her medical writing skills further by joining Kinapse private limited as a Medical Writer. This gave her the opportunity to work with some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

The majority of her role involved narrative writing (case processing), peer review and quality check of narratives belonged to therapeutic areas such as cardiology, oncology, dermatology, gastrointestinal, vaccines. During her tenure, she worked on over 1000 narratives.

Now, Dr. Sahi works as a freelance writer, where she independently writes and reviews medical content and other ground-breaking topics in the medical world.

She is also actively involved in educating people about the importance of good dental health. She examines patients and lends free counseling sessions. Taking her passion for medical writing ahead, her aim is to educate the masses about the value of good oral health.
