CDI purchases third FONAR UPRIGHT Multi-Position MRI

FONAR Corporation, The Inventor of MR Scanning, announced today that the Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) (Minneapolis, MN) has purchased a third FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI. It is scheduled to be installed in CDI's OpenScan MRI center in Duluth, Minnesota, replacing the current low-field open-sided MRI scanner in that center.

Avecia Biologics to be acquired by Merck

Merck & Co. Inc., (operating in the United Kingdom as MSD) and Avecia Investments Limited today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement by which Merck will acquire the biologics business of the Avecia group through a Merck affiliate (Merck Sharp & Dohme (Holdings) Limited or "MSD"). Avecia Biologics is a contract manufacturing organization with specific expertise in microbial-derived biologics. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. today reported that it has entered into a privately negotiated transaction to sell an aggregate of 4,784,689 primary shares of its common stock to affiliates of Venrock at a price of $2.09 per share, raising aggregate gross proceeds to Neurocrine of approximately $10 million. Neurocrine expects the financing to close on or about December 22, 2009, subject to customary closing conditions.
