Medline Industries signs agreement to acquire SunChoice

Medline Industries, Inc., the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies in the United States, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the business and assets of healthcare distributor SunChoice Europe Limited from the Southern Cross Healthcare Group.

SunChoice, located in Warrington, England, supplies incontinence, cleaning, janitorial, laundry, infection control, medical consumables, uniforms and patient handling equipment to over 900 nursing homes in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Under the terms of the agreement, approximately 46 employees will be joining Medline and the SunChoice name will be retired. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"This acquisition is an excellent strategic fit for Medline and will substantially increase our base of service internationally," said David Greenberg, Medline's executive vice president of strategy. "We are committed to a seamless transition and will be working closely with the SunChoice leadership team to ensure that we continue to deliver quality service to our customers."
