It may be a good medication to try especially with a history of medication resistant bipolar 1. Apparently it has also been found to be beneficial after ECT. I have recently had 15 bilateral ECT treatments, which helped the severe depression and psychosis, but led to hypomania/mania and severe rapid cycling. I was on Effexor and Seroquel simultaniously and then had an almost successful suicide attempt. have dealt with the horrors of coming off Effexor and am now on Modafinil, Seroquel and Diazapam.
I am now in hospital and the biggest problem is the COST as it is not PBS listed (nor covered by Disability Support Pension) for Bipolar Disorder.I run out of Modafinil tomorrow. , and I can not afford it.
All these changes in the past 6 weeks have been very detrimental to my mental health!!! I only anticipate things getting worse.
I understand the necessity for full trials before PBS listing, but I am at the end of my tether!! And hopefully the end of "the road" if I can be successful this time.
