Positive data from Argos Therapeutics' AGS-003 Phase 2 trial for mRCC

Argos Therapeutics today announced the presentation of positive data from a Phase 2 trial that evaluated the safety, clinical response and immune response of AGS-003 treatment in newly diagnosed patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). The data were discussed March 7 in a poster presentation at the ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium.

Nordic Naturals announced today that the company's products surpass all PCB standards set by California's Proposition 65, the GOED voluntary monograph, and all international standards. Nordic Naturals products were not listed in the lawsuit filed in California alleging that eight fish oil companies did not properly label products regarding PCB levels under the state's Proposition 65.

Presentation of results from open-label extension study of Xenazine

Lundbeck Inc. today announced the presentation of results from an open-label extension study of Xenazine- (tetrabenazine) for the treatment of chorea associated with Huntington's disease (HD). Data from this study demonstrated that after an 80-week treatment period, subjects treated with Xenazine experienced a statistically significant reduction in chorea score (p< 0.0001) as measured using the Unified Huntington's Disease Rating Scale (UHDRS) compared with baseline.

Research group performs randomized study to evaluate efficacy of ICCBco in treatment of lung lesions

To evaluate efficacy of Calculus Bovis compound preparation (ICCBco) in the treatment of lung lesions in portal hypertensive rabbits with schistosomiasis as the experimental animal model, a research group in China performed a randomized, double-blind, controlled trial to observe pathological changes and pathological effect mechanism of expression of fibronectin and laminin in the lung tissue of portal hypertensive rabbits with schistosomiasis.

LEO Pharma presents Phase III study results of PEP005 Gel 0.05% for treatment of AK at 68th AAD meeting

Specialty pharmaceutical company LEO Pharma today announced that findings from a Phase III study evaluating PEP005 (ingenol mebutate) Gel 0.05% to treat actinic keratosis (AK), a common pre-cursor to skin cancer, were presented at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) (Scientific Session Poster Discussion: P105). Results from REGION-I demonstrated treatment with PEP005 Gel once daily for 2 consecutive days.

Successful periodontal treatment reduces preterm birth risk

Previous studies have explored the effect of periodontal treatment, irrespective of efficacy of treatment, in reducing infant prematurity. In a study titled "Risk of Preterm Birth Is Reduced with Successful Periodontal Treatment," lead researcher M. Jeffcott, and colleagues S. Parry and M. Sammel (all from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia) and G. Macones (Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri) determined whether a reduction in infant prematurity was associated with successful periodontal treatment.
