Hematology, also spelled haematology, is the branch of biology (physiology), pathology, clinical laboratory, internal medicine, and pediatrics that is concerned with the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood diseases. Hematology includes the study of etiology, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of blood diseases.

Interim results from Inspiration’s OBI-1 and IB1001 hemophilia clinical study

Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. (Inspiration) announced interim clinical results for the company's two lead product candidates, an intravenous recombinant porcine FVIII (OBI-1) in the treatment of serious bleeds in acquired hemophilia A (AHA) and an intravenous recombinant FIX (IB1001) for the treatment and prevention of bleeding in children less than 12 years of age with hemophilia B.

Pomalidomide safe and effective in treating multiple myeloma

A new oral agent under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is safe and effective in treating relapsed and treatment-resistant multiple myeloma, according to a multicenter, Phase II study presented by Mount Sinai School of Medicine researchers at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting. The meeting is taking place December 8-11, 2012 in Atlanta.
