Growth hormone (GH) is a protein-based peptide hormone. It stimulates growth, cell reproduction and regeneration in humans and other animals. Growth hormone is a 191-amino acid, single-chain polypeptide that is synthesized, stored, and secreted by the somatotroph cells within the lateral wings of the anterior pituitary gland.

Novo Nordisk to appeal against ruling in repaglinide combination patent case

Today, Novo Nordisk announced that Judge Avern Cohn of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan issued an adverse ruling in a patent litigation case regarding Novo Nordisk's US Patent No. 6,677,358. The district court ruled that the patent, which covers the combination use of repaglinide and metformin for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, is invalid and unenforceable.

Emisphere, Novo Nordisk partner to develop and commercialize oral formulations of insulins

Emisphere Technologies, Inc. and Novo Nordisk A/S today announced that they have entered into an exclusive Development and License Agreement to develop and commercialize oral formulations of Novo Nordisk's insulins, which have the potential of treating diabetes, using Emisphere's Eligen® Technology. This is the second license agreement between the two companies. The first agreement, for the development of oral formulations of GLP-1 receptor agonists, was signed in June 2008, with a potential drug currently in a Phase I clinical trial.
