Emunamedica licenses technology for near-infrared wound monitor from Drexel University

Patients with diabetes-associated wounds could receive faster and more effective treatment thanks to a non-invasive device that monitors wound healing and is one step closer to market. Emunamedica LLC, a Florida-based healthcare start-up, has licensed technology for a near-infrared wound monitor from Drexel University. The device was developed by Dr. Elisabeth Papazoglou and Dr. Leonid Zubkov of Drexel's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems in collaboration with Dr. Michael S. Weingarten, M.D. of Drexel College of Medicine and their teams.

Exiqon today announced results for the first six months of 2010 ending 30 June 2010. Revenue for the first six months increased 27% to a record DKK 44.8 million.

USPTO to issue reexamination certificate for Neuralstem's patent for neural stem cell technology

Neuralstem, Inc. announced that it received notification that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has upheld the patentability, without amendment, of all claims in U.S. Patent No. 5,753,506 and intends to issue a reexamination certificate in due course. This patent describes methods of culturing and expanding neural stem cells.

Dr. Hartung receives Agilent Thought Leader Award for developmental neurotoxicity research

Agilent Technologies Inc. and the Agilent Foundation today announced that Dr. Thomas Hartung has received an Agilent Thought Leader Award in support of his research for the use of toxicity pathways to predict developmental neurotoxicity. This work could help identify possible contributions of chemicals to disorders such as autism and attention hyperactivity disorders.

Montana State University offers new biomedical technologies for prevention, treatment of viral infections

Researchers at Montana State University have developed six new biomedical technologies that could have applications for treating antibiotic resistant infections, fungal infections and viral infections; boosting humans' innate immunity and improving scientists' ability to study such compounds. The technologies are available for licensing to interested companies and entrepreneurs.

EHSI signs option with Regenevita for 'Neo Natal Progenitor Cell Expansion Technology'

Emerging Healthcare Solutions, Inc. announced today that the Company has signed an option with Regenevita, owner of the right to license Neo Natal Progenitor Cell Expansion Technology in Latin America. University of Maryland researchers link 3-D CT scans to standard ablation techniques

Researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore have developed a novel 3-D imaging approach that may improve the accuracy of treatment for ventricular tachycardia, a potentially life-threatening heart rhythm disorder that causes the heart to beat too fast. The new approach couples CT images with conventional ablation techniques to eliminate erratic electrical circuits in the heart that produce arrhythmias.

Siemens Healthcare to distribute Calypso GPS System in Europe

Calypso Medical Technologies, Inc., a developer of real-time localization technology used for the precise tracking of tumor targets, today announced that it has entered into a non-exclusive product distribution agreement with Siemens Healthcare for the sale of its Calypso® System in Europe. Under terms of the agreement, Siemens retains non-exclusive rights to sell Calypso's real-time tracking technology to existing and prospective Siemens linear accelerator customers throughout Europe for a period of three years.

USPTO grants Collegium second patent for tamper-resistant DETERx formulation platform

USPTO grants IRIDEX patent for MicroPulse technology in laser eye surgery

IRIDEX Corporation today announced the receipt of issuance of U.S. Patent No. 7,771,417, titled "Laser System with Short Pulse Characteristics And Its Method Of Use." This patent applies to the company's MicroPulse™ technology which provides the ophthalmologist with fine dose control of laser energy during eye surgery.
