First-ever ACR-led imaging boot camp training for breast radiologists to be held in Jeddah

The American College of Radiology is partnering with GE Healthcare and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center to bring the first-ever ACR-led imaging boot camp training for breast radiologists to the Middle East. The three-day Breast Imaging Boot Camp to be held May 23-25 in Jeddah will provide up to 40 practicing radiologists in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East with intensive hands-on experience in mammography and breast ultrasonography.

Osteoporosis is one of the chief reasons why the elderly often suffer broken bones from relatively minor injuries. Postmenopausal women in particular experience a relatively rapid loss in bone mass due to a reduced concentration of oestrogen, which is responsible for strong bone growth during youth. Maintaining bone mass requires physical exercise and vitamin D, which is mainly produced in the skin with the help of UVB radiation. But unlike the hair on our heads, the length of sensory cilia on nerve cells in our noses is of far more than merely cosmetic significance. A team of researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found a location-dependent pattern in cilia length in the mouse nasal cavity that affects sensitivity to odors.
