Northern Michigan Regional Hospital selects Medicity for implementing HIE

Medicity – the standard for health information exchange (HIE) solutions that empower physicians, hospitals and communities to improve care collaboration – today reported that Northern Michigan Regional Hospital has selected Medicity to electronically exchange health information among its hospitals and physicians across the 22 counties it serves. Improving health care quality for children: HHS Secretary announces $100M grant to explore new technologies

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced $100 million in federal grant funds to 10 states to improve health care quality and delivery systems for children enrolled in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

FDA issues approval for Gileads's Cayston for respiratory symptoms in cystic fibrosis

Gilead Sciences, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted marketing approval for Cayston® (aztreonam for inhalation solution) as a treatment to improve respiratory symptoms in cystic fibrosis patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Cayston’s safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients below the age of 7, patients with forced expiratory volume in one second of less than 25 percent or greater than 75 percent predicted, or patients colonized with Burkholderia cepacia.

Somerset Hospital collaborates with Mckesson to automate pharmacy with PROmanager-Rx system

Somerset Hospital in Pennsylvania has joined with McKesson to automate its pharmacy using the new PROmanager-Rx™ system. The system will enable the 150-bed hospital to fully automate dispensing of tablets, capsules, and other oral solid medications that come directly from drug manufacturers in unit-dose, bar-coded form. Somerset, already a user of McKesson’s Paragon® community hospital information system, expects PROmanager-Rx to automate dispensing for approximately 80 percent of its daily scheduled patient doses.

New cardiac imaging technique reduces radiation exposure compared to standard helical scan

In a new study published in the March issue of Radiology, researchers from Columbia University and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute have determined that an imaging exam of the heart using the latest generation of CT technology exposes patients to as much as 91 percent less radiation than standard helical CT scanning.

Viamet Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has entered into a licensing option agreement with the Novartis Option Fund. Pulmonx to raise new funding for global launch of Zephyr EBV and Chartis Pulmonary Assessment System

Venza Group to demonstrate just-in-time healthcare solutions at HIMSS Conference

The Venza Group's Instructional Designers worked closely with client-side subject matter experts to create the eGuides, and the industry-leading Venza eGuide rapid development tool was used to build them. In the end, 69 eGuides totaling 571 screens and 1,071 steps were generated. The overall project was completed in a timely manner to the complete satisfaction of all concerned.

SciCan forms merger with SycoTec, MICRO-MEGA to create dental equipment companies group
