Trial date set for patent litigation in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware

Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that a trial date has been set for patent litigation in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against Teva Parenteral Medicines, Inc. (TPM), Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. alleging infringement of Cubist’s US Patent Nos. 6,468,967 and 6,852,689, which expire on September 24, 2019, and US Patent No. RE39,071, which expires on June 15, 2016.

FDA Drugs Advisory Committee recommends approval for Gilead Sciences' aztreonam for inhalation solution

Gilead Sciences, Inc. today announced that the Anti-Infective Drugs Advisory Committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that aztreonam for inhalation solution be approved for the treatment of infections due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).

FDA clears AdvanDx' 90 minutes PNA FISH protocol for S. aureus and CNS tests

AdvanDx today announced that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for a fast, 90 minutes protocol for its S. aureus PNA FISH® and S. aureus/CNS PNA FISH® tests. The faster protocol reduces the PNA FISH turn-around time from the original 2.5 hours to 90 minutes by reducing PNA probe hybridization from 90 minutes to 30 minutes.

The National Fragile X Foundation has awarded a translational research seed grant of $100,000 to Dr. Randi J. Hagerman at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute in California for a study of minocycline in the treatment of children with fragile X syndrome (FXS). Hagerman is an internationally recognized clinician and clinical researcher on FXS, the most common cause of inherited mental impairment.
