HSS takes young patients with physical challenges on a surfing trip

Hospital for Special Surgery made a splash this week with a surfing trip for young patients. Giving new meaning to the term "patient care," the Adaptive Sports Academy at Lerner Children's Pavilion at HSS treated 12 patients, along with some of their siblings, to sand and surf in Long Beach, Long Island.

Ology Bioservices, Inc., a biologics contract development and manufacturing organization, announced today that it was awarded an Other Transaction Agreement to support the Joint Project Manager Medical Countermeasure Systems, a component of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense for advanced biologics manufacturing services—specifically, to manufacture an anti-Ebola monoclonal antibody.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated today announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved KALYDECO® (ivacaftor) to include use in children with cystic fibrosis ages 12 to <24 months who have at least one mutation in their cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene that is responsive to KALYDECO based on clinical and/or in vitro assay data.
