NanoPass Technologies Ltd., a pioneer in intradermal delivery solutions for immunotherapies, announced today that it has entered into a clinical supply and support agreement for the supply of MicronJet600, its microneedle delivery device, for use with Immune Design's oncology immunotherapy products from its ZVex discovery platform.

Desmoplasmic melanoma may possess unprecedented burden of gene mutations, say UCSF scientists

A rare, deadly form of skin cancer known as desmoplasmic melanoma (DM) may possess the highest burden of gene mutations of any cancer, suggesting that immunotherapy may be a promising approach for treatment, according to an international team led by UC San Francisco scientists. One of these mutations, never before observed in any cancer, may shield nascent DM tumors from destruction by the immune system and allow further mutations to develop.

In use for more than a century, inhaled anesthetics like nitrous oxide and halothane have made modern surgery possible. Working with human cancer cell lines and mice, researchers at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and elsewhere have found a way to trigger a type of immune system "virus alert" that may one day boost cancer patients' response to immunotherapy drugs. An increasingly promising focus of cancer research, the drugs are designed to disarm cancer cells' ability to avoid detection and destruction by the immune system.
