BeiGene doses first patient in Phase 1 study of BGB-283

BeiGene (Beijing), Co., Ltd., today announced dose administration for the first patient in a Phase 1 study of BGB-283 in patients with B-RAF or K-RAS mutations. BGB-283 is an investigational, oral, selective, potent second generation inhibitor of B-RAF, making it a targeted therapeutic candidate to potentially treat and bring benefit to patients with cancers that harbor BRAF mutations and/or aberrations in the RAS-MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) pathway.

FDA approves Baxter's FEIBA for prophylactic treatment of hemophilia patients with inhibitors

Baxter International Inc. today announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration granted approval of Baxter's FEIBA [Anti-Inhibitor Coagulant Complex], the first and only FDA-approved treatment for routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A or B who have developed inhibitors.

Sorrento Therapeutics acquires Concortis Biosystems

Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Concortis Biosystems, Corp., providing Sorrento with a comprehensive technology platform to create a new generation of homogenous antibody drug conjugates with site-specific toxin conjugation and consistent drug-antibody ratios. With the close of the deal, Sorrento has issued an aggregate of 1,331,978 shares of its common stock to the Concortis shareholders. Based on the closing share price on December 18, 2013, the transaction is valued at $11.3 million.

Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited (hereafter, Daiichi Sankyo) today announced that it has submitted a supplemental New Drug Application for its oral, once-daily direct factor Xa-inhibitor LIXIANA® (Edoxaban Tosilate Hydrate) for review by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Daiichi Sankyo is seeking approval in Japan for edoxaban in new indications for non-valvular atrial fibrillation and symptomatic venous thromboembolism.
