This approach, when combined with well-established techniques, readily identifies changes in small samples of human whole blood, and has the potential to distinguish between health and disease states.

Genomatix systems utilized to analyze cis and epigenetic elements that control reproductive events

The C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, the Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Institute for Environmental Health Sciences, installed a Genomatix Mining Station and a Genomatix Genome Analyzer last year at their labs in Detroit, MI in order to support the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.

Study validates Chronix Biomedical’s serum DNA blood tests for early, accurate detection of breast cancer

Chronix Biomedical today announced publication of a study that supports the utility of its serum DNA blood tests for the early and accurate detection of breast cancer. The Chronix tests detect the circulating DNA that is released into the blood stream by damaged and dying cells. USF study: HHV-6 causes permanent infection by inserting its DNA into human chromosomes

Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) infects nearly 100 percent of humans in early childhood, and the infection then lasts for the rest of a person's life. Now, a team led by Peter Medveczky, MD, a professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of South Florida, has discovered that in some individuals, HHV-6 causes such a permanent infection by inserting or "integrating" its DNA into human chromosomes.

Fluidigm Corporation today announced the release of 5kb and 10kb long-range PCR protocols for its Access Array™ System. Scientists have identified a region of a human chromosome that is associated with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a recently recognized allergic disease. People with EoE frequently have difficulty eating or may be allergic to one or more foods. A scientific "Renaissance man" whose work spans the fields of mathematics, linguistics, biotechnology and polymer physics, Erez Lieberman-Aiden, graduate student at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, has been named the winner of the prestigious $30,000 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize. Lieberman-Aiden, one of four 2010 $30,000 Lemelson-MIT Collegiate Student Prize winners announced today, was selected for the breadth and depth of his innovations.
