Batman puts some POW! into physiology studies

What do you have when you line up a martial artist, acrobatic gymnast, police officer, firefighter, NASCAR driver, and NFL running back? "Watson," the IBM super-computer that recently routed humanity's best on Jeopardy might have guessed the answer was "the Village People," to which host Alex Trebek could have replied, "Sorry. The answer we were looking for is 'Batman'." At least that is the correct answer for physiologist E. Paul Zehr.

Aeolus Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of broad spectrum catalytic antioxidant compounds that reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and subsequent tissue damage-signaling cascades resulting from radiation exposure, today announced that the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded Aeolus a contract for the advanced development of AEOL 10150 as a medical countermeasure against the pulmonary sub-syndrome of acute radiation syndrome.

IDEXX Laboratories fourth quarter revenues increase 5% to $283.8 million

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., today reported that revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 increased 5% to $283.8 million, from $270.3 million for the fourth quarter of 2009. Organic revenue growth, as defined below, was 6%. Earnings per diluted share ("EPS") for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 increased 22% to $0.62, compared to $0.51 for the same period in the prior year.
