Smith & Nephew's Endoscopy Division today announced the introduction of the TWINFIX™ Ultra PK Suture Anchor, a new anchor to address wide variation in bone density and tissue quality for rotator cuff repair in the shoulder. The device is currently being featured at Smith & Nephew Endoscopy's booth at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting in New Orleans.

Women with metal-on-metal hip implants, where both the ball of the joint and the surface of the socket are made of metal, pass metal ions to their offspring during pregnancy, according to a study by researchers at Rush University Medical Center. The ions are the result of wear and corrosion as the metal parts rub against one another.
