Bayer’s Nexavar Phase 3 trial on NSCLC does not meet primary endpoint

Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that a Phase 3 trial evaluating Nexavar (sorafenib) tablets in patients with advanced relapsed or refractory non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose disease progressed after two or three previous treatments, did not meet its primary endpoint of improving overall survival.

Data from Janssen’s SIMPONI Phase 3 study on ulcerative colitis

New study findings presented today show that subcutaneous induction regimens of the anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha therapy SIMPONI (golimumab) induced clinical response in a majority of patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) who had previously failed or were intolerant to conventional agents.

SERVE-HF study on effect of CSA treatment for stable heart failure enrolls 1,000th participant

SERVE-HF, the largest study to investigate if treatment of predominant central sleep apnea (CSA) improves survival and outcomes of patients with stable heart failure, has enrolled its 1,000th participant. The study, sponsored by ResMed Ltd., is the largest of its kind. This milestone brings the SERVE-HF study, which began in 2008, one step closer to its target of approximately 1,250 participants.
