Report: Only 2% of nation's substance abuse treatment facilities offer counseling services in Asian languages

A new report shows that only 2-percent (291) of the nation's 13,513 substance abuse treatment facilities provide counseling services in various Asian languages. The report also showed that the proportion of facilities offering these services varied by geographic region.

ASH announces approval of official health care taxonomy code for Designated Specialists

Today the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) and the ASH Specialist Program Inc. announced the approval of an official health care taxonomy code for Designated Specialists in Clinical Hypertension from the American Medical Association National Uniform Claims Committee.

India pledges $5B in aid to Africa to help continent reach MDGs

India on Wednesday at the conclusion of the second India-Africa summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, pledged $5 billion in aid to Africa to help the continent reach the Millennium Development Goals, the Guardian reports. The amount is nearly equal to India's annual health care budget of $5.9 billion, according to the newspaper.

Next round of arguments in health law appeals process will be marked by tough questioning

The Obama administration can expect tough questioning from the three appeals judges chosen Wednesday to hear the multi-state challenge to the health care reform law. Unlike the three Democratic appointees who heard the first appeals arguments in Richmond earlier this month, the 11th Circuit panel includes judges appointed by presidents of both parties. The Atlanta-based court is slated to hear appeal arguments June 8.
