Astellas announces financial support to Japan for earthquake relief work

The Astellas European Foundation has today announced financial support to the Japanese Red Cross Society for their work to assist those impacted by the earthquake and tsunami on Friday, 11th March. The Japanese Red Cross Society is working with the local government of the affected region and the support will help provide aid to the local population.

The National Community Pharmacists Association is pressuring Medicare officials to delay a regulation that they say will drive up labor costs for drug stores and increase the potential for dispensing errors. The proposed rule is expected to be finalized and take effect on Jan. 1, 2012.

Scott Brown goes on record against efforts to choke planned parenthood funding

Brown joins Republican Sens. Susan Collins, of Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, of Alaska, in opposing the measure. The Republican-controlled House voted last month to pass the proposal, which would cut all federal funding to Planned Parenthood and eliminate a program called Title X, which provides aid for family planning and reproductive health.

Citing the dangers of marijuana, the lack of clinical research on a controlled substance with a high potential for abuse, and the physician's oath to "first, do no harm," the American Society of Addiction Medicine today issued a white paper recommending a halt to using the weed as a medicine in states where it has been declared legal.
