The smoking rate among Canadian teenagers has dropped below that of the general population for the first time in almost 10 years

Data show that 18% of teens aged 15 to 19 smoked daily or occasionally last year, down from 22% in 2002. Substantial changes in the smoking behaviour of Quebec and Ontario youth are behind much of the decrease, namely lower smoking rates among boys in Quebec and girls in Ontario.

Wounds on hamsters without companionship don't heal as fast as those on hamsters with companionship

Researchers looked at the effect social contact had on wound healing in stressed hamsters. Results showed that skin wounds healed nearly twice as fast in the hamsters paired with a sibling. These animals also produced less of the stress hormone cortisol than unpaired hamsters.

The 2003 Health Care Helpline Report was compiled from nearly 7,800 complaints received by the Attorney General's Health Care Bureau through its toll-free helpline during a twelve-month period between July 2002 and June 2003. It analyzes those health care-related complaints investigated by the office and issues proposed reforms to address systemic problems.
