Antares Pharma completes enrollment in Phase 3 clinical trial of Anturol for OAB

Antares Pharma, Inc. announced today that it has completed enrollment in the double-blind portion of the Company’s Phase 3 clinical trial of Anturol™, its transdermal oxybutynin ATD™ gel for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). Top line data from this pivotal trial, which is being conducted under a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is expected in the third quarter of this year.

Focal therapy for localized prostate cancer: US HIFU announces intention to fund multi-center trial

US HIFU, a world leader in minimally invasive high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technologies and manufacturer of the Sonablate® 500 medical device, has announced its intention to fund a landmark multi-center trial to study focal therapy for localized prostate cancer. Mark Emberton, M.D., (FRCS-Urology), consultant urological surgeon and divisional clinical director of cancer services at University College London Hospital (UCLH), along with Hashim Uddin Ahmed, MRC clinical research fellow, will lead the trial.

European Patent Office affirms validity of EuroMed's patent for Wrinkle-Resistant Wound dressings

EuroMed Inc. and Jentec Inc. today announced an important victory affirming the validity of a key patent, European patent number 1020198 (U.S. corresponding patent number 6878385) for Wrinkle-Resistant Wound dressings. In a ruling issued by the European Patent Office in Berlin, Germany, both of the grounds for opposition raised by the plaintiff, a prominent wound care manufacturer (i.e., extension of subject-matter, lack of ‘inventive step’ or sufficient originality) were not adequate cause to challenge the patent.

The January issue of Mayo Clinic Health Letter covers what to look out for and what to do to promote an enamel-friendly setting in the mouth. According to the newsletter, two significant contributors to tooth decay are too little saliva and inadequate fluoride.
