Patterson announces second-quarter fiscal 2010 operating results

Patterson Companies, Inc. today reported consolidated sales of $814,951,000 for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 ended October 24, an increase of 7% from $759,461,000 in the year-earlier quarter. Acquisitions transacted over the past 12 months accounted for a substantial portion of the second quarter sales growth, while the impact of foreign currency adjustments was minimal.

Transplanting people's own stem cells into heart muscle lessens pain and improves ability to walk

The largest national stem cell study for heart disease showed the first evidence that transplanting a potent form of adult stem cells into the heart muscle of subjects with severe angina results in less pain and an improved ability to walk. The transplant subjects also experienced fewer deaths than those who didn't receive stem cells.

Birner Dental Management Services, Inc., operators of PERFECT TEETH dental practices, announced results for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009. For the quarter ended September 30, 2009, total dental group practice revenue decreased $285,000 or 1.9% to $14.7 million. Net revenue decreased $268,000, or 3.1%, to $8.5 million.
