Susha has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree  in Chemistry and Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calicut, India. She always had a keen interest in medical and health science. As part of her masters degree, she specialized in Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Microbiology, Physiology, Biotechnology, and Nutrition.

During her time at university, she developed a keen interest in physiology, metabolism, immunology, molecular biology, and nutritional biochemistry. She continues to write about these subjects through her articles for News-Medical.

After completing her university education, she started her career as a lecturer, mentoring undergraduates studying Biochemistry. During this time, she particularly enjoyed interacting with students in the lab and taking them out on week-long study tours of health institutes across the country.

Her teaching post lasted 2 years and after that she moved on to editorial roles in the publishing sector. In 2004, she started working as a copy editor in a Science Technology Engineering Medicine (STEM) publishing firm. As part of her editorial work, she edited manuscripts for many reputed scientific publishers.

She worked in several publishing and typesetting firms spanning over 5 to 6 years, after which she moved onto content management, where she was involved in project management and quality assurance of content creation, as well as editing projects for various medical content aggregators across the globe.

She is passionate about health and nutrition and is due to start a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition over the coming year. Having tried out her share of crash diets as a teenager, she loves experimenting with food. Diets always intrigued her and she wants to study them in detail. Her favorite research topics are various types of diets (such as veganism) and their effects on our body and metabolism.

In 2015, she immigrated to Canada and found a new passion in Volunteering. She volunteers for several non-profit organizations / events including TEDx conferences across cities in Ontario throughout the year.

In 2017, she joined a US-based medical education provider as a Quality Assurance Editor. As part of her job, she reviews online medical communication programs for top US pharma companies and makes sure they are error-free before launch or distribution to subscribers.

Susha enjoys medical writing and editing very much, which pushed her to work for AZoNetwork’s medical website, News-Medical. The articles she produces help her to keep abreast of the latest in the medical and health science breakthroughs from around the world.

Her key hobbies and interests are gardening, cooking, and reading. She recently finished reading A Crack in Creation: Gene Editing and the Unthinkable Power to Control Evolution by Jennifer A. Doudna and Samuel H. Sternberg, and highly recommends it for its interesting scientific insights and honest narrative about the challenges involved in developing and using the CRISPR 'gene editing' tool.
