A March 2010 independent survey of 1,472 retirees covered by Medicare revealed that while 59% are "very" or "somewhat" confident Medicare will be available the rest of their lives, just 20% have the same confidence it will be here for the succeeding generation. In fact, 62% of respondents are not confident that Medicare will be here for their children.
“A private Medicare exchange has a role to play in restoring that confidence by cutting waste and making the Medicare system more cost-efficient for retirees who have these benefits and the employers who sponsor them.”
The survey was fielded by Extend Health, Inc., which operates the largest private Medicare exchange in the country at www.ExtendHealth.com.
"These results underscore that retiree confidence in Medicare is eroding," said Bryce Williams, President and CEO of Extend Health.
