    I think Mr Gordon is right on the point here in that there must be campaigns to create greater public awareness. I really don't think most DIY enthusiasts (and pros!) realise what structures may contain asbestos.

    I think a lot of people are warded off checking, because they think it will be very expensive to carry out the necessary checks - they may well be right - but if your health is at risk, what price can you put on that.

    I'll certainly be looked into this and other similar reports in greater detail to see what the best advice is for the DIY market.
