Hi, I just wanted to clarify some information in the article (I'm a mammalian evolutionary ecologist). The article states that striped skunks and raccoons are mustelids, they are not. Mustelid refers to the weasel family Mustelidae and skunks (family Mephitidae) and raccoons (family Procyonidae) are not mustelids. Musteloidea refers to the classification above families (superfamily), which is important for this study. Members of the weasel family such as mink and ferret are highly susceptible to Sars-CoV-2, but it seems these more distantly related carnivores are not. I think it detracts from the study saying that these are all weasel family members, otherwise well written article.
