    This guy's argument is that people don't stick to diets or exercise patterns over time and once they stop, they regain the weight (duh!). Therefore losing the weight is pointless? Only if you're looking for reasons to feel comfortable with giving up. I'd say the moral of the story is to design your exercise / eating plan around things you actually like so that you can, and will, keep it up for the long run.
