... in response to Parasitic Skin Infestations
  1. Grace Marion Grace Marion United States says:

For the past two years, I have been dealing with these persistent issues. Initially, I thought they were carpet beetles, as I only noticed them in the carpet and couch, not on myself. Over time, however, I began experiencing a rash on my arms and other areas, and eventually noticed symptoms in my mouth. My teeth became loose, and when I visited the doctor, I actually found something wedged between my tooth and gums. The doctor seemed skeptical and didn’t find anything, though he did observe the rashes and suggested it could be scabies. Without conducting any tests, he prescribed a topical treatment, which I applied as directed, but it was painful and unfortunately not effective.

I have since visited the ER and several dermatologists, but no one has been able to identify what is causing these symptoms. My cat appears to be affected as well, which makes it unlikely that this is an illusion. Some have suggested fleas, but due to the elevation where I live, fleas do not typically survive.

It has been a difficult and isolating experience, especially since I had planned to relocate to be closer to my family, but I am concerned about bringing these issues into their home. Since the loss of my partner three years ago, and with my family far away, it has been especially challenging to cope. The dental issues have also affected how people perceive me in the community, which adds to the distress.

If you have any suggestions or find any solutions, please let me know, and I will do the same. It can be very mentally taxing when people do not believe what you are experiencing. Wishing you strength and hope as you continue to deal with this.
