The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, a leading advocacy and frontline maternal, newborn and child health empowerment organization, along with other civil society organizations signed the Civil Society Pledge titled ‘A Promise Renewed: Renewing the Commitment to Child Survival which was read in Washington, DC on the 14th of June 2012. In this commitment, signatories pledged their support for ending preventable child deaths and called on all countries to reduce under-5 mortality to 20 or fewer under-5 deaths per 1,000 live births, for every segment of society, by 2035

A major take home message from Child Survival Call To Action summit is the universal acknowledgement that in order to deliver on the promise by all stakeholders, it is critical to reach into communities utilising the access, trust and expertise that the faith community and civil society have developed.
