This may well help to end the autism epidemic If we understand the susceptibility genes are not some "new" genes that speeded up contrary to normal evolution, then we must look for the environmental factors that didn't exist a century ago. While many studies , many parents eye witness stories, place their children's autism as an "event" following vaccination, that would seem a reasonable starting point. Identifying those with the susceptibilities with a test at birth, could be medicines first step in isolating a group that should not have vaccines. This could extend to other environmental exposures, pesticides, heavy metals, plastics. exposures that were not a part of the children's environment before this huge increase in autism. Natural viral and bacterial infections, always part of our environment would be least likely in the suspect list. I don't see how identifying the susceptible genes would serve to diagnose autism earlier, but more a way of preventing autism by identification followed by avoidance to known co-factors. Vaccine, regardless of CDC and others hiding facts, is the number one suspect on the list, as the non vaccinated are rarely victims of autism.
