Liquidia to explore PRINT particle technology with PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative

Liquidia Technologies today announced a collaboration with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) to explore the use of the company's PRINT® particle technology to design next generation malaria vaccines. PRINT technology offers unprecedented control of particle size, shape and chemistry in a highly consistent and scalable manufacturing process, and will be used to deliver a protein in combination with immune stimulating molecules.

Circassia acquires global rights to novel topical therapeutic for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis

Circassia Ltd, a specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on allergy, today announced that it has acquired the worldwide development and commercialization rights to the novel topical therapeutic for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, PAP-1. Circassia acquired the rights to the proprietary molecule from Airmid Inc, for an undisclosed upfront sum plus milestone payments and royalties on future product sales.

"Governor Scott is taking important steps to reduce wasteful spending in Medicaid, which is a big problem when it comes to pharmacy benefits. Because of its old-school 'fee-for-service' approach, Florida Medicaid pays drugstores much more than either Medicare or the commercial market pays them. Over the next decade, Florida could save $462 million - without cutting benefits, eligibility or payments to doctor and hospitals - simply by updating its approach to pharmacy benefits."

Nutritional deficiencies among indigenous populations: two studies

They find iodine deficiency for the first time among an Aboriginal population in the NT. This deficiency was previously thought to occur only in the nation’s south-eastern states. The study involved nearly 400 teenagers of aboriginal origin living in remote as well as urban areas of the Darwin Health Region, which covers 120,000 km-square of the top end of the NT.
