Brands announces grand opening of its new Bright Now Dental office in Fountain Valley

Brands Inc., the nation's leading provider of business support services to dental groups in the United States, today announced the grand opening of its newest Bright Now Dental office in Fountain Valley – the 50th office in Southern California. Bright Now Dental will continue its growth pattern in Southern California over the next two years, with offices slated to open in Escondido, Simi Valley, El Cajon, and Upland later this year and further expansion in 2012.

Topamax medication during pregnancy can lead to increased risk of oral birth defects in babies

New data suggest that the drug Topamax and its generic versions increase the risk for the birth defects cleft lip and cleft palate in babies born to women who use the medication during pregnancy, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said today.

Doctors at Beaumont Hospital, Troy have performed Michigan's first minimally invasive robotic procedure to correct atrial fibrillation, a prevalent and growing heart rhythm disorder. The new robotic maze procedure is an alternative to open-heart surgery. It's performed through tiny, keyhole incisions with fewer complications and a shorter hospital stay.

A new study published in the journal Clinical Obesity reveals that bariatric surgery can result in significant weight loss in severely obese adolescents.
