Genovate begins construction of Insulin Ecological Industrial Park in Changzhou National Hi-tech District

On September 22, construction of phase I of Genovate Biotechnology's Insulin Ecological Industrial Park began in Changzhou National Hi-tech District. Changzhou mayor Fei Gaoyun said the city and district governments and the relevant oversight authorities will do their best to provide support services, with the aim of doing what is needed to see construction completed and the facility put into production as early as possible.

Thanks to their discovery that specific antibodies play a key role in combating the viral infection, a vaccine against the disease "progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy" could now be developed.

Novel graphene oxide-based biosensor may speed up development of new drugs against HIV, cancer

Longing to find a cure for cancer, HIV and other yet incurable diseases, researchers have already tried out hundreds of drugs, each requiring preclinical and clinical testing with live subjects. How many chemical agents more to try? Moving at such rate, will we find the cure during our lifetime? One of the easiest ways to speed up the drug development process is to simply perform it outside of the living body (e.g., by watching the substances react with the smallest pieces of live tissue and thus quickly predicting the overall effect it will make to the body when inside).

Researchers receive $13 million NIH grant to develop new stem cell-based assays for studying autism

The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $13 million grant over five years to develop and disseminate new stem cell-based technologies and assays for studying autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other mental health diseases to a consortium of researchers at the University of California, San Diego and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, working in tandem with leaders in the biotechnology sector.
