E-Scape Bio announced an extension of its Series A funding to a total of $63 million. Created as a spin-off from research conducted at the Gladstone Institutes, E-Scape Bio is a biopharmaceutical company with a mission to develop new therapies to treat neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.

ERYTECH Pharma, a French clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing innovative therapies for rare forms of cancer and orphan diseases, today announced that it has entered into a research collaboration with Queen's University in Canada to advance the preclinical development of ERYTECH's eryminase program specifically for the treatment of arginase-1 deficiency, a rare and severe metabolic disorder related to arginine metabolism.

The first European study into the burden of non-tuberculosis mycobacterium pulmonary disease (NTM-PD), published today in the European Respiratory Journal, has revealed that both the 3-year all-cause mortality rate and financial burden for patients with the disease is almost four times higher than a matched control group.

Antibody treatment protects non-human primates against deadly Marburg and Ravn viruses

An antibody treatment successfully protected nonhuman primates against the deadly Marburg and Ravn viruses even when given five days after becoming infected, according to the latest findings of a collaborative team from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc., and Vanderbilt University. The findings are now available in Science Translational Medicine.

Experimental treatment cures Marburg and Ravn virus infection in animals

Scientists funded by the National Institutes of Health have found that an experimental treatment cured 100 percent of guinea pigs and rhesus monkeys in late stages of infection with lethal levels of Marburg and Ravn viruses, relatives of the Ebola virus.
