Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. (Except for Per Share Data or where otherwise noted, numbers are in thousands) announced that the Company recorded current quarter revenues of $121,719, the best ever quarter in terms of revenues in corporate history and an increase of 25% over the $97,424 recorded in the third quarter, fiscal year 2009.

Biomoda's CyPath assay for lung cancer detection receives Canadian patent

Cancer diagnostics company Biomoda, Inc. has received a notice of allowance for a Canadian patent application for a method of using its proprietary porphyrin-based compound that binds to cancer cells and causes them to fluoresce under specific frequencies of light when viewed under a fluorescent microscope.

InSite Vision initiates Phase 1/2 clinical trial of ISV-303

InSite Vision Incorporated, a company developing novel ophthalmic therapeutics, today announced the initiation of a Phase 1/2 clinical trial of ISV-303, a topical anti-inflammatory product intended to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with ocular surgery. Arrayit Corporation, a leader in life sciences and healthcare technology, announces today that the company has chosen the Premarket Approval pathway for its OvaDx Pre-Symptomatic Ovarian Cancer Screening Test. While the standard for a PMA is higher than for a 510(k), the company believes that a PMA OvaDx submission can achieve a Class III PMA approval, the most stringent approval level granted by the FDA for in vitro diagnostic devices.

Hepatitis E vaccine successful in clinical trial: Study

In a Clinical trial in China, a vaccine has been found to protect against Hepatitis E. Hepatitis E virus, usually spread via contaminated food and faeces usually runs its course before the patient recovers. However it can cause severe illness in elderly people and has a mortality rate of 1 to 3 percent. It can also kill 5 to 25 percent of affected pregnant women and those who survive can suffer high rates of miscarriage. Around a third of the world's population have been infected by the virus say researchers.

Emunamedica licenses technology for near-infrared wound monitor from Drexel University

Patients with diabetes-associated wounds could receive faster and more effective treatment thanks to a non-invasive device that monitors wound healing and is one step closer to market. Emunamedica LLC, a Florida-based healthcare start-up, has licensed technology for a near-infrared wound monitor from Drexel University. The device was developed by Dr. Elisabeth Papazoglou and Dr. Leonid Zubkov of Drexel's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems in collaboration with Dr. Michael S. Weingarten, M.D. of Drexel College of Medicine and their teams.

Chronix Biomedical expands biomarker development capabilities with installation of DNA mass sequencer

Chronix Biomedical today reported that it has significantly expanded and accelerated its biomarker development capabilities with the installation of Germany's first state-of-the-art high-throughput DNA mass sequencer at the University of Göttingen, Chronix's long-time collaborator.
