MEDITE announces granting of German priority patent for Histology 'Lab-in-one Automation' System

MEDITE Cancer Diagnostics, Inc., specializing in the development, manufacturing and marketing of superior molecular biomarkers and premium medical devices for detection, risk assessment and diagnosis of cancer and related diseases announced the recent decision of the German Patent Register to grant MEDITE the German priority patent for its Histology "Lab-in-one Automation" System.

Study examines cancer survival statistics for Indigenous Australians

Cancer Council Queensland is calling for enhanced joint efforts to improve Indigenous cancer control this Close the Gap day (tomorrow, Thursday 19 March), following the release of research findings that cancer survival is lower for Indigenous than non-Indigenous Australians for all cancers combined, and for many specific types of cancer.

"Most people focus on the dislike of the preparation, the need to arrange transportation and the fear of being anesthetized during the procedure and then potentially getting a cancer diagnosis," says Neil Gupta, MD, MPH, Director of Endoscopy at Loyola University Health System. "Screening colonoscopy is a very critical examination that really can determine life and death when it comes to colon cancer. It is now clear that not every colonoscopy is equal. Once you've decided it's time to get a screening colonoscopy, the next step is to make sure that you get a high-quality one."

New NCCN Guidelines for Smoking Cessation published

Tobacco-related diseases are the most preventable cause of death worldwide; smoking cessation leads to improvement in cancer treatment outcomes, as well as decreased recurrence. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2015, nearly 171,000 of the estimated 589,430 cancer deaths in the United States--more than 25 percent--will be caused by tobacco smoking.
