New data from Argos AGS-003, sunitinib Phase 2 combination study on RCC presented at ASCO

Argos Therapeutics today announced that new data from its Phase 2 combination study of its Arcelis immunotherapy for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), AGS-003, in combination with sunitinib showed improvement over expectations for sunitinib alone in progression-free survival (PFS) in newly diagnosed metastatic RCC patients with unfavorable prognosis.

Now a new study in animals suggests that this benefit may result from plasma's ability to restore the "endothelial glycocalyx," a special layer lining the blood vessels, reports the June issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia, official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society.

Diabetic nephropathy is the foremost cause of kidney failure.
