Edge Therapeutics announces FDA acceptance of IND application for EG-1962

Edge Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing life-saving hospital products for acute, fatal or debilitating conditions, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted the Company's Investigational New Drug application for EG-1962, a novel bio-absorbable nimodipine microparticle formulation.

Faldaprevir+ achieves viral cure in 88% of treatment-naïve genotype-1 hepatitis C patients in Asia

New findings presented today during the APASL Liver Week in Singapore, highlighted the efficacy and safety of faldaprevir+ plus pegylated interferon and ribavirin (PegIFN/RBV) in treatment-naïve patients with genotype-1 hepatitis C virus (HCV) in Asia.1 This post-hoc sub-analysis of the Phase III STARTVerso™1 and 2 trials showed that both doses of faldaprevir were associated with high viral cure rates and a shorter treatment duration in this particular patient group.1

The Cancer Institute of New Jersey is one of 50 sites across the nation to offer a clinical trial known as COMET-2 that examines whether the drug cabozantinib is effective in reducing bone pain in patients with prostate cancer that is no longer responsive to hormone therapy and has spread (metastasized) to other parts of the body.

Report: 83% of cancer doctors face oncology drug shortages

Eighty-three percent of cancer doctors report that they've faced oncology drug shortages, and of those, nearly all say that their patients' treatment has been impacted, according to a study from researchers at the Abramson Cancer Center and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania that will be presented today at the 2013 annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (Abstract #CRA6510).
