Pall Corporation, a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, has applied for a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a disposable, closed cell collection and seeding system that is being developed for use in ground-breaking vein regeneration procedures.

Health benefits for government retirees may not be eliminated if state and local governments had clearly promised workers those benefits, the California Supreme Court ruled in an Orange County case Monday. The unanimous ruling is expected to make it more difficult for state and local governments to shave costs by cutting health benefits to retirees if elected officials in previous years made it clear that those benefits would last a lifetime.

Decision Resources finds that the drug market for key hospital-treated infections that are of high interest to drug developers—most notably nosocomial pneumonia, bloodstream infections, skin and skin structure/surgical site infections and urinary tract infections—will increase from $3.3 billion in 2010 to just over $4 billion in 2020 in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Japan.
