Interim progress from Phase III TeloVac study of GV1001 vaccine announced

KAEL-GemVax, a leading oncology vaccine company, today announced, through its subsidiary GemVax A.S, encouraging interim progress from the UK-based Phase III TeloVac study of its anti-telomerase therapeutic cancer vaccine GV1001 in pancreatic cancer. Study results show no improvement in overall survival for combination of gemcitabine and Amplimexon

AmpliMed Corporation, a cancer therapeutics company, today announced results from AMP-019, a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase II screening trial designed to determine if a Phase III trial was warranted for the combination of gemcitabine (Gemzar, Eli Lilly) plus Amplimexon (AmpliMed Corporation) in patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas.

Lantheus signs new manufacturing, supply agreement with MDS Nordion for Mo-99

Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic medical imaging, today announced that it has signed a new manufacturing and supply agreement with MDS Nordion to purchase molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), the parent isotope of technetium-99m (Tc-99m). Mo-99 is used in Lantheus Medical Imaging's TechneLite® (Technetium Tc99m Generator) generators, which are sold throughout the world, and which produce Tc-99m, a medical isotope widely used in nuclear medicine imaging.

Screening for HPV genotypes 16 and 18 helps detect cervical pre-cancer missed by Pap test

Roche today announced that data from the ATHENA (Addressing THE Need for Advanced HPV Diagnostics) U.S. registration trial of over 47,000 women demonstrate that two human papillomavirus genotypes, HPV 16 and HPV 18, can identify those women with cervical pre-cancer missed by cytologic examination with a Papanicolau (Pap) test.

Calithera Biosciences, a company developing novel oncology therapeutics, today announced the completion of a Series A financing totaling $40 million. Morgenthaler Ventures led the financing with U.S. Venture Partners, Advanced Technology Ventures, Delphi Ventures and Mission Bay Capital also participating in the round.
