Study suggests lung cancer patients with HER2 mutations may benefit from anti-HER2 drugs

New results from a retrospective study conducted in Europe suggest that anti-HER2 treatments, like the widely used breast cancer agent trastuzumab (Herceptin), have anti-cancer effects in a small subset of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring specific HER2 protein mutations.

New data on Enanta's lead HCV protease inhibitor to be presented at International Liver Congress

Enanta Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a research and development-focused biotechnology company dedicated to creating small molecule drugs in the infectious disease field, announced today that new Phase 2b data related to ABT-450, Enanta's lead HCV protease inhibitor identified in its ongoing collaboration with AbbVie, as well as new preclinical data on Enanta's proprietary cyclophilin inhibitor, EDP-546, will be presented at the International Liver Congress, which is the 48th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver taking place in Amsterdam April 24-28, 2013.

A team of researchers of the UPV/EHU together with researchers from the Hospital Clínico of Barcelona have produced a bibliographical review that summarises the data currently existing on the markers for pancreatic cancer, and have published it in the specialised journal Clinica Chimica Acta.

Researchers find deficiency in anti-tumor protein can delay DNA repair after radiation treatment

Researchers at Moffitt Cancer Center have found that a deficiency in an important anti-tumor protein, p53, can slow or delay DNA repair after radiation treatment. They suggest that this is because p53 regulates the expression of two enzymes (JMJD2b and SUV39H1) that control the folding of DNA.
